Man jailed for 27 years for raping and axing his 50-year-old aunt

A 26-YEAR-OLD man from Bindura raped his aunt (50), throttled her to stop her from screaming and later on axed her on the forehead.

In a statement on X, the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) said on 31 July at around 9am the accused person approached the 50-year-old complainant who was at her homestead, washing dishes and asked for water to drink.

“The complainant indicated that she had no water and proceeded to close the door. The accused person barged in and forced her into the bedroom where he raped her. The accused person strangled the complainant as he committed the offence to stop her from screaming.”

“After raping the complainant, the accused person struck her on the forehead with an axe before fleeing the scene. A Police report was made leading to the arrest of the accused person”.

“The accused person was convicted and sentenced to 20 years imprisonment for rape. He was sentenced to a further seven years imprisonment for attempted murder, of which two years were suspended”, said NPAZ – Chronicle
