For killing his uncle on Christmas Day over a plate of sadza, a Chipinge man has been convicted of culpable homicide by High Court judge Justice Joseph Musakwa.

Trymore Mlambo of Chief Gorohwa, Chipinge, was convicted on his own plea of guilty. He was sentenced to four years in jail, but a year was suspended on condition of good behaviour.

He pleaded guilty to negligently causing the death of his uncle, Phenias Mangende Gwenzi, on Christmas Day in 2016. The prosecutor, Ms Jane-Rose Matsikidze, told the court that the pair, after consuming copious amounts of an unknown brand of alcohol, had a fallout over sadza at the deceased’s home.
