A Silobela man died upon admission at Kwekwe General Hospital after being attacked with machetes by two assailants in a revenge attack.

Tinashe Manyeruke (46) of Batanayi Village under Chief Ruya in Silobela, was attacked by Menelesi Ncube and Vitalis Ndlovu both of Village Simana Chief Malisa who accused him of having attacked their brother last year.

Midlands Police Spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the incident which occurred on 22 January 2024 around 4PM.

“Manyeruke was given a lift from Crossroads Business Centre on his way home and was seated in the loading pan. On approaching Simana Business Centre the driver of the vehicle stopped and disembarked to buy groceries while Manyeruke remained seated at the back,” said Inspector Mahoko.

The two accused persons, who were armed with machetes and knives, approached the now deceased and accused him of having assaulted their brother sometime in December last year.

The now deceased jumped out of the vehicle and tried to run away but the two caught up with him and assaulted him all over the body using machetes and a Colombia knife leaving him lying in a pool of blood.

Manyeruke was rushed to Kwekwe General Hospital where he died upon admission.

Police have since launched a manhunt for Ncube and Ndlovu who disappeared after committing the crime.

“We are appealing to members of the public who might have information that can lead to the arrest of the culprits to approach any nearest police station. We also urge members of the public to always solve disputes peacefully, instead of resorting to violence,” said Inspector Mahoko.
