A man from Barham Green suburb in Bulawayo was left in a pool of blood after he was severely stabbed in the head with a sharp object by a man who is suspected to be part of a four-member gang that has been terrorising residents.
The incident which has become a subject of discussion happened last week on Friday at around 6pm.
According to a source, Godknows Moyo and his three accomplices who are still on the run hatched a plan on how to attack John Gazi.
Moyo, the source said, slept across the road which is just a few metres away from Gazi’s house.
Surprised by that, Gazi had to stop his car and went out to see what was happening.
Said the source: “Gazi thought he was sick as he lay across the road. While he was asking him about what was the problem he suddenly sprung up and started hitting him with fists.
“Within a few minutes the marauding Moyo was all over him as he continued attacking him”.
As he tried to evade him, Moyo reached for a sharp object and stabbed him in the head.
He staggered and then fell.
After about 10 minutes he woke up and went to a police station and filed a report.
He was referred to United Bulawayo Hospitals for treatment. Police managed to arrest Moyo but his accomplices are on the run.
A medical report seen by B-Metro showed that he suffered a 3cm deep wound in the head.
One of the residents who declined to be named said the four-member gang had been on the prowl in the suburb attacking and robbing residents.
“We thank God that one of the gang members has been arrested and we pray that police will arrest his partners in crime who are on the run because we are living in fear of them as they ambush and attack us,” she said.
Moyo has since appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Lineah Khumalo facing an assault charge.
He pleaded not guilty and was remanded in custody to Thursday next week for commencement of trial.
