A Kwekwe man lost a total of US$730 cash after three machete wielding men in masks pounced on his homestead in the middle of the night.

The incident took place in Mbizo 4 Kwekwe on 7 September 2024.

According to police, Kudakwashe Chuchu (26) was sleeping in his room when he was awakened by a banging noise on his door.

“Upon peeping through the window, he saw the three suspects wearing black monkey hats and sunglasses armed with machetes. The suspects used machetes to break the window and door,” said Midlands Police spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko.

They demanded cash from the complainant and he took US$730-00 from his wardrobe and gave it to them.

The men disappeared into the night.

“We are appealing for information which might lead to the arrest of the three unknown suspects. We urge members of the public not to keep large sums of money inside their houses but make use of banks instead,” he said. – (@The Chronicle)
