“On the fateful day, Thulani Tinofa was drinking beer with his friend at a local bar in Kafusi when the suspect, Mandlenkosi Tinofa arrived and started harassing his brother’s friend. Thulani tried to restrain
Mandlenkosi from doing so and it appears this did not go down well with the suspect and an altercation ensued,” said Sgt Mkhwananzi.
The two brothers then left the bar and went outside during which the dispute degenerated into a fight, resulting in the other pulling out an Okapi knife.
He stabbed his brother in the chest once and he collapsed. Soon after committing the offence, Mandlenkosi fled from the scene leaving his brother writhing in pain.
Some patrons who witnessed the incident rushed Thulani to a local clinic where he later died a few minutes after he admission.
The body was taken to Manama Hospital mortuary pending a post-mortem.
Sgt Mkhwananzi said the suspect was still at large.
“We have since launched a manhunt for the suspect who is now on the run. We are also appealing to members of the public to assist us with information that could lead to the arrest of the man,” said the police spokesperson.
Sgt Mkhwananzi urged members of the public to desist from violence in the event of disputes.
“We continue to witness such cases particularly during the festive period and as police we would like to urge people to desist from the culture of violence to avoid the recurrence of such incidents in which lives are unnecessarily lost,” he said.
