The incident occurred on September 4 at around 9pm.

Acting Manicaland police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka, confirmed the incident, and identified Takudzwa Mungazi, as the suspected fugitive.

The deceased was identified as 23-year-old Sententilous Mangoma.

Ass Insp Chinyoka said the two men were drinking beer when a misunderstanding arose, leading to a violent altercation.

However, bystanders intervened and restrained the pair, temporarily diffusing the situation.

“The situation escalated into a violent fight but the two were temporarily restrained by some people around.

“Mungazi followed Mangoma, who was leaving, and returned to the shops staggering.

“Police investigations are still in progress,” said Ass Insp Chinyoka.

He said Mangoma was rushed to Rusape General Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police are appealing to the public for assistance in locating the suspect.

“We urge anyone with information on the suspect’s whereabouts to come forward and assist us in bringing the alleged killer to justice.
