A Chirumhanzu man raped his girlfrienda��s 11-year-old daughter for the whole night after finding her home alone.
James Chirwa (37) of Mbedzi Village, under headman Chigegwe in Chirumhanzu appeared on initial remand before Gweru magistrate Judith Taruvinga facing one count of rape.
He pleaded not guilty and was remanded in custody to 8 February for continuation of the trial.
Prosecuting, Edward Gwainda told the court that on a date unknown to him but in November last year at around 9pm, Chirwa went to search for his girlfriend who is the complainanta��s mother.
When he got to his girlfrienda��s homestead, he only found her 11-year-old daughter who told him that her mother had gone to a funeral.
Upon realising that the mother of the complainant was away, Chirwa then followed the complainant to her bedroom hut.
Inside her bedroom, the accused pushed her on to the bed. He then had sex with her several times that same night without her consent and threatened the victim with an okapi knife and told her not to tell anyone of what had transpired.
He threatened to kill her together with her mother if she ever told anyone.
The court heard that the matter only came to light when the complainant told her aunt.
The complainanta��s aunt then reported the matter to the police leading to Chirwaa��s arrest.
