A MAN, who lured an underage schoolgirl to have sexual intercourse with him after giving her US$2, has been jailed for the offence.
Osca Chaturuka (22), of Chihwai Village under Chief Tandi, was convicted of the offence by Rusape magistrate Tendai Mahwe, who sentenced him to 12 months’ imprisonment.
Four months were suspended on condition of good behaviour.
He will serve eight months effective.
Prosecutor Faith Mutukwa told the court the offence came to light after the victim’s father picked up the information that the convict was sleeping with young girls, including his daughter.
“The accused person and the complainant are not related but are local persons.
“On the unknown date to the prosecutor but during the month of December 2025, at around 4 pm and at Chihwai village, Chief Tandi, the accused person met the complainant who was on her way to a local homestead in the same village.
“The accused person offered the complainant U$2 and asked her for sex.
“The complainant took the money and agreed to have sexual intercourse with the accused person.
“The complainant did not reveal the matter to anyone.
“Matter came to light in January 2026 when the complainant’s father heard through rumours that the accused person had sexual intercourse with the complainant, as well as another juvenile.
“Complainant revealed the matter to her father and a report was made leading to the arrest of the accused person,” said Mutukwa.
In an unrelated case, Jona Nyoni, 24, was sentenced to serve a one-year prison sentence after he was convicted of raping a 15-year-old girl from Mafirakurewa Village, under Chief Makoni.
Rusape magistrate Tendai Mahwe sentenced him to 18 months in jail and set aside six months on condition of good behaviour for the next five years.
Prosecutor Faith Mutukwa told the court that Nyoni would make the girl lie to his father that she was attending extra lessons at school yet she was going to his home where he would abuse her.
“Sometime in January 2026 the accused person met the complainant at Mafirakurewa Village, Chief Makoni, and he proposed love to the girl. “The complainant accepted and the duo started dating.
“During the same period, the complainant visited the accused person at his place. Jona proceeded to sleep with the complainant.
“The matter came to light on January 27, 2026, when the complainant lied to his father that she was going to school for extra lessons.
“She proceeded to Nyoni’s homestead and had unprotected consensual sexual intercourse once.
“The complainant’s father got suspicious and followed the complainant to the school and he discovered that the complainant was lying about attending extra lessons.
“The complainant later returned home and her father questioned her where she had spent the day.
“The complainant revealed the matter to her father. The father reported the matter to the police leading to Nyoni’s arrest.”
Another man Claudius Muchaka, 35, was jailed for two years by for impregnating a 16-year-old juvenile who stays at the same farm with him.
“Muchaka is the complainant’s boyfriend. Sometime in early January 2026, the accused person told the complainant to meet him at a bushy area at the farm and she went there.
“He then had unprotected consensual sexual intercourse with the complainant.
“The complainant missed her monthly period for February 2026 and decided to tell her mother on March 1, 2026.
“The complainant’s mother then escorted her to the police to file a report,” Mutukwa told the court.
