adminA LUPANE man who turned his sister into a sex slave for five years until she fell pregnant has been jailed for 15 years by a Hwange magistrate.
The 33-year-old man from Dandanda area who cannot be named to protect the identity of his victim, subjected his 17-year-old sister to five years of sexual torture and humiliation.
He was convicted on his own plea of guilty and sentenced to an effective 15 years imprisonment when he appeared before regional magistrate Mrs Dambudzo Malunga facing rape charges.
It is said that the man who shared the same bedroom with the complainant started abusing his sister in 2011 and would threaten to axe her if she reported the matter to anyone.
From the period extending from May 2011 up to September 2014, the man used to have sexual intercourse with his sister several times without her consent.
Prosecuting, Mr Tawanda Sigauke told the court that the complainant did not tell anyone of her ordeal, fearing her brother.
However, relief from her nightmare came in November 2014 when her sister-in-law took her to her rural home in Sibombo Village.
Earlier this year in April her relatives sent word that she must return home but she refused, before telling her grandmother that she was living in torment as her brother was raping her.
A report was made to the police leading to her brother’s arrest in Bulawayo after he attempted to skip the country’s borders.
