Man remanded in custody over unregistered firearm

A MAN from Mufakose in Harare who was found in possession of an unregistered firearm with 10 rounds of ammunition appeared in court yesterday  for unlawful possession of a firearm.

Naison Karenzo (36) appeared before Harare magistrate Mr Dennis Mangosi and was denied bail.

The matter was remanded to May 16, as the State await the ballistics report. 

It is the State’s case that on April 30 at around 1pm, Karenzo was arrested for unlawful entry into premises in aggravating circumstances in Mufakose.

Upon being searched by police officers, he was found in possession of a Smith and Wesson revolver and 10 bullets. 

He had no firearm certificate in respect of the pistol.

Mr Zororai Nkomo appeared for the State.
