A HARARE man is seeking a peace order against his ex-wife, alleging that she has disrupted his new marriage and insulted both him and his spouse since her return.
Mr Tonderai Kumatsa was at the Harare Civil Court yesterday, claiming Violet Zulu, who he alleges had been living with another man, returned and drove his wife out of their home.
Mr Kumatsa said the respondent returned, insulted his wife and forced her to leave.
He expressed a desire for peace, saying, “She has caused a lot of trouble between us, and I just want to live in peace and for her to stop insulting me in front of the children and tenants.”
In her defence, Zulu denied the accusations, asserting she never married anyone else and was simply staying at another property.
“I have every right to return to my home… I was just staying somewhere else,” she said, adding that Mr Kumatsa’s new wife was not living at their house when she returned.
“How could I have chased her away when she wasn’t even staying at the house?” she questioned.
Zulu also countered that Mr Kumatsa was the one disturbing her, claiming he visited her at odd hours seeking money related to rent from tenants.
“I am the one being disturbed, not him. He comes to my place asking for money for the rent,” she argued.
Presiding magistrate Ms Joanna Mukwesha dismissed the case, indicating that Mr Kumatsa lacked sufficient evidence to support his claims against Zulu.
