A DIVORCED Fort Rixon man sneaked into his 14-year-old daughter’s blankets and raped her on Valentine’s Day, a magistrate heard. Bulawayo magistrate Gladmore Mushove heard how sometime during the night of December last year and February 14, 2014, Clyson Nyoni, 37, of Vukani Village, who shares a room with his daughter, sneaked into her blankets and raped her.
Prosecuting, Raymond Makaza told the court that sometime in December 2013, Nyoni left his bed and went to where his daughter was sleeping on the floor. He sneaked into the girl’s blankets prompting the victim to wake up.
“Nyoni forcibly undressed the victim and raped her and threatened to kill her if she reported the matter to anyone,” said Makaza.
The court heard that on the night of Valentine’s Day, Nyoni again sneaked into his daughter’s blankets and raped her. He further threatened to kill her if she revealed what had happened.
The matter only came to light last week when neighbours became suspicious on discovering that Nyoni was sharing his bedroom hut with his daughter.
They quizzed the girl until she revealed that she had been raped twice by her father.
A report was made to the police leading to Nyoni’s arrest. Nyoni pleaded not guilty and was remanded in custody to March 7.
