A remote control can get you almost killed, even away from home.
A Chirumhanzu man is lucky to be alive after he was stabbed by two brothers during a scuffle over a remote control at a drinking hole.
This was heard when Methias Muzondiwa (19) and Wellington Muzondiwa (24) of Mateto Village under Chief Chirumhanzu appeared before regional magistrate Morgan Nemadire facing an attempted murder charge for stabbing one Onias Takura.
Methias pleaded guilty but Wellington pleaded not guilty.
However, they were both remanded in custody to January 20 for sentencing.
The court heard that on 4 December last year at around 10pm, the accused were drinking beer at the same bar with Takura at Muwani Business Centre.
Takura accused Methias of selecting boring music since he was the one holding the remote control.
Methias got angry to a point ofA� assaulting Takura with fists several times on his face before Wellington joined the scuffle.
A revellerA� tried to stop the two brothers whoA� overpowered Takura but failed.
The court heard that while the reveller held Wellington, Methias came from behind with a knife and stabbed Takura three times on the back.
The complainant fell to the ground and the two accused persons fled. He sustained stab wounds on his back.
