A 37-YEAR-OLD man from Mbembesi, Matabeleland North Province, allegedly stabbed his drinking mate with a knife following a misunderstanding over song selection.

This was heard when Mncedisi Hadebe (37) appeared before Bulawayo regional magistrate Dambudzo Malunga and was remanded in custody to 25 June.

The court heard that on 3 March 2024 at around 1pm, the complainant Khulani Mabothe was drinking beer when an argument over song selection ensued between him and the accused.

In a fit of rage, Hadebe allegedly pulled a knife from his trousers pocket and stabbed Mabothe on the left side of his ribs, left arm, and head. After the frenzied attack, Mabothe fled to his house and sought help from his younger brother to take him to the hospital. The matter was then reported to the police leading to the accused’s arrest.
