POLICE have arrested a man for stealing 15 laptops from a shop in the Bulawayo CBD under the pretext of buying them.
In their Twitter page police said the suspect Nyasha Shumba was arrested two days later in the CBD while loading the stolen laptops onto a vehicle.
“Police in Bulawayo arrested Nyasha Shumba (31) for a case of theft involving 15 laptops at a shop in Bulawayo CBD on 27 August. The suspect posed as a potential buyer who intended to buy 18 laptops from the shop before duping the salesperson to buy him food at Chicken Inn,” said the police.
Shumba was later left alone in the shop where he stole the laptops and vanished.
Police said on August 29 the suspect was seen loading laptops in a bus along 1st Avenue in Bulawayo leading to his arrest. The police recovered 11 laptops from the suspect while two others were recovered in Kwekwe where he had already sold them.
