A BIGAMIST flew into a fit of rage and tore birth certificates belonging to his estranged second wife’s two children from her previous marriage and the death certificate of her late husband after she asked for relish from his first wife, a court heard. Rangarirai Murenza, 55, of Village 6 in Mahlabathini in Inyathi was infuriated that Eusebia Mpofu asked for relish from his first wife.

He was charged with destroying identity documents when he appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Steven Ndlovu on circuit in Inyathi last Friday.

Murenza pleaded guilty and the magistrate remanded him in custody to today for sentence.

The prosecutor, Lungisani Dube, said Murenza destroyed the documents on January 29 at Dromoland Business Centre.

“The misunderstanding started when Mpofu asked for relish from the other wife and this didn’t go down well with Murenza who charged at her (Mpofu) intending to assault her. She escaped and he tore the documents.”

A report was made to the police leading to Murenza’s arrest.
