Man throttles lover in birth control row

Patient Sibanda, Court Reporter
A man, 20, throttled his girlfriend, 32, for refusing to stop using birth control and for kicking him out of her house.

Talent Dzitiro of Bulawayo’s Lower Rangemore suburb beat up Sukoluhle Mpofu of Pumula South suburb and told a court he was angry that his girlfriend continued to use Jadelle to prevent pregnancy when he wanted a child.

Dzitiro appeared before Western Commonage provincial magistrate Abednico Ndebele facing a charge of physical abuse.

He pleaded guilty and was fined $100.  If he fails to pay the fine, he will spend 30 days in jail.

“We had a misunderstanding after she refused to remove a Jadelle that was inserted in her arm. We have stayed together for more than a year and we don’t have children.

“She also got angry because I have other girlfriends who I usually bring home because I need children. I was last year convicted for having sexual intercourse with a minor. Dating her was a step to avoid such a crime,” Dzitiro said.
