Man up for assault following social media video

A 45-YEAR-OLD man who was captured on video assaulting a woman with a sjambok, that has since gone viral, has been arrested in Insuza, Matabeleland North Province.

National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi said, “Reference is made to a video which went viral on social media platforms in which a man is clearly seen brutally assaulting a woman with a sjambok.

“The ZRP confirms the arrest of the suspect Mehluli Ncube, aged 45, on November 5, 2025, in connection with the incident which occurred on October 24, 2025, at Village 2C, Insuza.

“Investigations by the police have established that the suspect allegedly attacked the victim together with her husband after accusing them of theft. He tied the husband’s hands with tyre cables before covering his head with plastic papers and went on to callously assault the couple.”
