The Manchester City boss is a big admirer of the Dutchman, who scored 30 Premier League goals for the Gunners last season.
But with only a year remaining on his contract, Van Persie has been linked with a £25million move to the North West.
However, Mancini has moved to play down speculation the 28-year-old could join fellow ex-Gunners Samir Nasri, Emmanuel Adebayor and Kolo Toure at the Etihad.
The Italian was also quick to rubbish suggestions that RVP is top of his transfer targets list and said that within the transfer time frame he thought that the striker’s move to the Etihad Stadium was “unlikely”.
Mancini said: “Van Persie? He is an Arsenal player and I don’t want to disrespect Wenger.
“We have four strikers and we will start the pre-season in five days, it’s unlikely there will be major changes in such a short time.”
Mancini insists his favoured attacking quartet of Carlos Tevez, Sergio Aguero, Edin Dzeko and Mario Balotelli will all be at the club next term.
He added: “It will be difficult that Edin goes away. Tevez will remain too, unless he wants to change team.”
The Blues manager also revealed that he hopes Edin Dzeko and Aleksander Kolarov will remain in Manchester this summer, though he sounded a little less certain about the Serbian defender’s future at Eastlands.
“The same goes for Dzeko, his farewell is not expected,” Mancini added.
“The interest of Juventus for him? It will be difficult that Edin goes away.
“Kolarov? I myself wanted him to City, he is a great player. If it depends on me, he would remain at the City.
“I’d love to have him again in the next season but I cannot impose myself on his will.”
Meanwhile, Chelsea are lining up a shock swoop for Arsenal’s Theo Walcott as the England winger stalls on signing a new deal.
The 23-year-old, who played a bit part role at Euro 2012, has just a year left on his contract. That has alerted Premier League rivals Chelsea who have joined the race for his signature along with PSG. — The Sun-Metro.
