EMMANUEL Mandiranga is edging closer to a return to Dynamos, seven years after he last pulled on the club’s famous blue jersey, following the expiry of his contract with Manica Diamonds at the end of December.
The 30-year-old midfielder, who had spells at Dynamos between 2017 and 2018, is in active talks with the Harare giants as they reshape their squad under newly appointed coach Genesis Mangombe.
Sources close to the negotiations say discussions have moved beyond casual interest and into detail around terms, length of stay, and role within the team.
“Negotiations are on and the two sides are in contact,” said the source. “Mandiranga brings experience and balance. He improves depth immediately. Dynamos want him, but Hardrock are pushing hard as well.”
Dynamos are targeting experience in a window that has already exposed how far behind they are in recruitment compared to their rivals. Mandiranga is one of several seasoned players on the club’s radar, alongside former defender Tino Muringai, as the technical bench looks to steady a squad that has drifted in recent seasons.
The club is also weighing up moves for Triangle United pair Munashe Bamara and Witness Shave, while the Scottland duo of goalkeeper Kelvin Shangiwa and midfielder Michael Tapera have also been mentioned in internal conversations.
The list of names underlines both ambition and urgency as Dynamos try to rebuild after another underwhelming campaign.
Mangombe’s return to the Dynamos dugout has sharpened the stakes.
His first spell ended prematurely after a run heavy on draws, a sequence that drained momentum and patience. This second stint comes with a better contract, clearer backing, and far less tolerance for stagnation.
Several Castle Lager Premier Soccer League clubs wrapped up their key signings early, leaving Dynamos chasing proven options late in the market.
What Mangombe is relying on now is administrative muscle rather than head starts.
That muscle comes from a restructured executive led by chairman Vincent Chawonza. The board has secured fresh financial support from Sakunda, a deal widely reported to be worth around US$2.5 million per season, although the club has not officially confirmed the figures.
Mandiranga joined Manica Diamonds on a short term deal and played a central role in steering the Mutare side away from relegation trouble in the first half of the season.
His campaign was interrupted late on by injury, which ruled him out of the final two matches, but he has since fully recovered.
