LIVERPOOL forward Sadio Mane has been included in Senegala��s squad for next montha��s Fifa World Cup qualifiers despite his existing hamstring strain.
Mane had been an injury doubt for the home and away games against South Africa on 10 and 14 November.
a�?In my mind therea��s no doubt he will be with us for the double header against South Africa, and that he will be 100% fit,a�? said Senegal coach Aliou Cisse.
But Liverpool said the forward could be out for up to six weeks on 10 October.
Three days earlier, he had damaged his hamstring in the 2-0 win over Cape Verde in Praia and was substituted in the 89th minute.
a�?Until now, he has just been doing some individual training a�� running in straight lines a�� but from next week he will train harder and start working with the ball,a�? added former Birmingham City midfielder Cisse.
It is unclear when Mane will return to action, having already missed Liverpoola��s Premier League draw with Manchester United and the 7-0 thrashing of Maribor in the Uefa Champions League.
Senegal, who reached the World Cup quarter-finals on their sole previous appearance in 2002, need two points from their remaining qualifiers to ensure their passage to next yeara��s finals in Russia.
They originally lost 2-1 to South Africa in Polokwane last year but Fifa ordered the match to be replayed after finding Ghanaian referee Joseph Lamptey guilty of match manipulation.
The replayed game will take place in Limpopo on 10 November, with the Senegalese capital Dakar hosting the final qualifier four days later.
The Lions of Teranga currently lead Group D of African World Cup qualifying with eight points, two more than both Burkina Faso and Cape Verde, while South Africa lie bottom with four points.
Both Senegal and Bafana Bafana have a game in hand on their group rivals because of the enforced replay. – BBC
