DYNAMOS have come under the spotlight again, following the resignation of the club’s marketing and communication manager, Yvonne Mangunda.
The Glamour Boys announced in a statement that Mangunda had left the club, 10 months after she was brought on board, to bolster their communications department.
Mangunda’s appointment last November was hailed as a progressive step, towards professionalism, and a welcome culture change, for a club that has a bad history, with having women, in their structures.
“We wish to announce the departure of Yvonne Mangunda from Dynamos FC with effect from September 2021.
“Yvonne Mangunda, who was employed as the club’s marketing and communications manager, has left the club to pursue other interests.
“Dynamos FC are indebted to Mangunda for the excellent work ethics, professionalism and culture change that she brought to the club.
“We wish her well in her future endeavours,” said the club in a statement.
Mangunda was largely credited for bringing improved communication, with stakeholders, and also giving the club more visibility, on the social media platforms.
However, DeMbare have a bad reputation of not being accommodative, of women football administrators and officials. While Mangunda’s story has not yet been told in full, the Glamour Boys tried experimenting by introducing women , into their leadership in 2018.
They appointed Esther Mawere as the first woman vice-chairperson,of the club.
Mawere’s appointment was met with excitement across the board, but the Chegutu-based businesswoman lasted only a few months before she was pushed out.
In 2009, Dynamos bullied renowned physiotherapist Abigail Mnikwa out of her job, because of their rather weird beliefs that having a woman on the bench, was bringing bad luck to the team.
Mangunda yesterday penned a heartfelt letter to the Dynamos family.
