RESULTS in the Pacific Storm ZIFA Eastern Region Division One fixtures at the weekend blew the title race open, with the pacesetters posting contrasting results whose major talking point was log leaders, Yadah Stars’ 1-0 defeat to Manica Diamonds Under-19 at Chisamba Ground.

While the Miracle Boys were biting the dust, their closest rivals, Deportivo La Murambinda and Tenax CS were victorious, beating FC Wangu Mazodze 3-0 and Power FC 3-1 respectively after 33 rounds of matches.

Despite the loss and having their title procession scuppered, Yadah Stars remain perched at the top on 72 points. La Murambinda (68 points) are in second place. The prisons wardens (64) are in third position.

Yadah Stars have played a game less.

While Manica Diamonds U19 missed a first half penalty kick, they atoned for it with the strike after the break that earned them the precious three points.

Their coach, Hibron “Adhala Chommie” Makukutu, expressed delight with how his charges applied themselves.

“Our performance was good enough to earn us maximum points and it’s a job well done for the boys and everyone at the club. We are already looking forward to the next game and are keen to build on this momentum as we go into the final stretch of the season,” said Makukutu.

Action in the league continues this weekend, with matches kicking off on Friday.
