MINISTER of State for Manicaland Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Advocate Misheck Mugadza has officially launched the Manicaland Provincial Fitness and Wellness Programme, emphasising the importance of a healthy population in driving national development.
The programme was launched at Mutare Polytechnic College today, with senior Government officials, members of the security sector, civil servants, students and residents in attendance.
Speaking at the event, Minister Mugadza commended stakeholders for their commitment to community development through participation in wellness initiatives.
He described the fitness and wellness programme as a strategic intervention aimed at improving the health profile of public servants and communities, noting the strong link between wellness and productivity.
“Fitness and wellness are not luxuries but necessities for national development. A healthy population is more productive, while a healthy workforce builds a strong economy. The initiative supports Zimbabwe’s Vision 2030, which seeks to transform the country into an upper middle-income economy, adding that development is not only about infrastructure and industry, but also about the well-being of citizens. This programme will also help build healthy human capital, empower youth through sport and recreation, and promote social cohesion and active citizenship,” he said.
