MANICALAND Athletics Board chairperson Joshua Matume says they are ready for Sunday’s Old Mutual Vumba half marathon.

The event is looking promising with several top distance runners confirming their availability, including last year’s winners Moses Tarakinyu and Fortunate Chidzivo.

“We are expecting a good turnout with some of the top athletes set to compete.

“We are looking forward to more top athletes taking part this year because this is coming as we are getting closer to the end of year.

“With defending champions coming for the race it also increases competition. I think its going to be stiff competition because they also want to beat their previous times,” said Matume.

Winners for the 21km will get $1 000.

Apart from the half marathon, there is also the 10km and 5km races on offer.
