MUTARE basketball outfit, Mercenaries player, Moses Muyambo, is basking in the glory of his recent inclusion in the final 20 Zimbabwe senior men’s basketball team that is set to represent the country at the 28th edition AfroBasket 2015 Championship.

The AfroBasket 2015 will be held from August 19 to 30 in the Tunisian cities of Nabeul and Tunis. It serves as a qualifying event for the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.

Zimbabwe qualified for the prestigious basketball contest early this year for the first time after beating regional powerhouse, South Africa 66-64 in the finals of the qualifiers held in Bulawayo.

Basketball Union of Zimbabwe (BUZ) named the final team recently and Muyambo, who is also making a move from Mutare’s giants, Mercenaries to national champions, JBC in Harare, said he was happy with his inclusion in the national team for the first time.

“I am really excited after being named in the final team that will represent the country next month in Tunisia. The team is full of stars and if you are named in such a team there is a big reason to smile and also, this is my time to shine. I think locally I have gained a lot of experience,” he said.

“I have been working hard and we have won numerous accolades with Mercenaries in Mutare. Since I have earned a call to the national team, I am eager to showcase my talent with the continent’s best.”
