HIGHLANDERS striker Brighton “MaNinja” Ncube says he felt a huge load taken off his shoulder after he managed to get a goal and an assist in his team’s 2-0 victory over TelOne on Monday.
Pressure was slowly piling on the 23-year-old who had started in all of the three opening league games but failed to find the target.
Already, questions where being asked on his capabilities to lead the attack but his performance against TelOne surely buys him some time to settle into the Bosso set up and start scoring more goals.
“I am more than happy with my performance against TelOne. I was on the scoresheet and l also managed to get an assist it means a lot to me. The pressure was starting to mount because l had started in all the games but could not score. As a player it gets to you that maybe you are not helping the team enough. This is a big team and people want results and if you don’t score you get worried. The failure to get the target was really getting to me but l am happy with the support from the fans, family and friends. However, l am happy l managed to get the goal. I have to work even harder to make sure l get more goals in this season,” said Ncube.
Ncube says he is adapting well to Kelvin Kaindu’s philosophy.
“I am learning to fully understand my role in the team and l am grateful for to the coaches for having faith in me. All l can do for them and the fans is to work even harder to ensure l work hard to score more goals and get to assist my teammates score,” said Ncube.
Ncube joined Bosso at the beginning of this season after struggling for game time at Chicken Inn.
MaNinja a Highlanders product, left the Bosso juniors when he was in the Under-18 side after being offered a chance of playing in the PSL by Bantu Rovers.
That remains the proudest moment of his career to date.
His journey to stardom has taken a lot of twists and turns thus far, but his PSL debut is still fresh in his memory.
It was no surprise that the youngster made his PSL debut as a teenager. His shots were hit with venom and he was always scouting for opportunities to leave his mark on an opponent, especially physically.
He is not a typical big striker that focuses solely on scoring goals, but he is able to mix it with other players.
His hold up play is outstanding.
His physical presence and pure talent resulted in him being nicknamed “MaNinja”. – @innocentskizoe
