HIGHLANDERS have confirmed striker Brington “MaNinja” Ncube is in Botswana on assessment with Jwaneng Galaxy.

Bosso chief executive officer Denzil Mnkandla said the club is aware of Ncube’s situation and noted that the player remains under contract.

“Brington Ncube is in Botswana only on assessment. We are aware that he is exploring opportunities there and we are following the situation closely.”

Ncube, a product of the Highlanders junior system, left Bosso at Under-18 level after being offered a chance to play Premiership football with Bantu Rovers. He made his Castle Lager Premier Soccer League debut in 2017 at just 17 years old, becoming one of the youngest players to feature in the league.

The assessment in Botswana comes as many Zimbabwean players look to neighbouring leagues for exposure and competitive football. With his contract running until 2026, any future move will be closely watched by Bosso.

Meanwhile, Highlanders midfielder Gillian Nyathi is believed to be edging closer to a move to Gwanda Pirates after being spotted training with the Matabeleland South outfit, fuelling speculation over his future at Bosso.

The development comes at a time when squad reshuffles are underway.
Gwanda Pirates are presently under the guidance of Johannes Ngodzo, himself a Highlanders product, adding another layer of intrigue to Nyathi’s situation. Sources close to the player suggest the midfielder is on his way out of Highlanders, with opportunities at Barbourfields appearing increasingly limited despite his steady rise through the club’s developmental structures.

Nyathi’s presence at Pirates has not gone unnoticed by supporters. The midfielder on Thursday posted pictures on his Facebook page wearing a Gwanda Pirates outfit, a move widely interpreted as a signal of intent rather than coincidence.
