NORMAN MAPEZA is enjoying his place in the sun after leading FC Platinum on a 10-game unbeaten run in the Castle Lager Premiership. Their latest victims were Hwange at Mandava on Saturday and Mapeza and his men are now the dark horses in the race for the league title. “I cannot talk of the championship now, only God knows our destiny,” said Mapeza. “We just need to keep on pushing. We want to avoid complacency creeping into our game and keep on fighting.
“I think God knows our destiny. We will take each game as it comes and see where we are going to be at the end of the season. “After the turbulence we had in the first games, we kept everybody together and remained united and that was the most important thing.
“We did not fight each other and unity is now pushing us. “It was a phase. In football there is a time when things will not be going well for you. We kept the faith and we kept the confidence.” Even after losing six key players — Wisdom Mutasa, Walter Musona, Aaron Katebe, Obrey Chirwa, Thabani Kamusoko and Donald Ngoma — the Zvishavane side have been impressive. “The guys who left were very good players and that is the reason why they left. Someone saw them and saw the quality in them and that is why they are not here,” said Mapeza.
