Marondera-Igava Road accident claims two

Two people died while four others were injured when a BMW vehicle they were travelling in had an accident at the 15 km peg along the Marondera-Igava Road yesterday.

It is reported that the accident occurred around 2 pm yesterday when the driver lost control of the vehicle, which then veered off the road and overturned several times, killing two passengers on the spot and injuring four others.

Deputy police spokesperson for Mashonaland East, Assistant Inspector Misheck Denhere confirmed the accident.

“The driver was driving a BMW X5 vehicle towards Wenimbe with five passengers on board. On approaching the said kilometre peg at the curve, the driver lost control of the vehicle and veered off the road to the left and right then rolled several times before landing on its wheels.

“The matter was reported to ZRP Marondera Traffic section who attended the scene and ferried the injured and deceased to Marondera Hospital. Investigations are in progress.”
