Marondera Municipality has embarked on a door-to-door revenue collection exercise as the local authority seeks to bring services closer to the people and increase its revenue base.
The exercise is also aimed at bringing convenience to ratepayers and enhancing accountability and transparency.

Marondera municipality Town Clerk Mr Rinashe Nyamuzihwa said the exercise will run until the end of the month.

He urged Marondera residents to take advantage of the offer as it will enable them to clear their outstanding balances from the comfort of their homes.

“The Municipality of Marondera is embarking on a door-to-door revenue collection exercise to enhance convenience in bill payments for residents and other stakeholders,” he said.

“This exercise will start on October 8, 2024, and will run until October 31, 2024. All Saturdays during this period are designated as collection days.

“Valued residents and other stakeholders are encouraged to take advantage of this initiative for their convenience. Our teams will move around residential areas and business centres with Point-of-Sale machines, allowing clients to pay bills from the comfort of their homes, offices or businesses. Cash payments are also accepted.

“The teams will also be collecting vital information at each household or business premise to update the council’s database. The officials will request for mobile numbers and e-mail addresses to enable council to send bills electronically via text messages or email.”
