Masame’s new passion

FORMER Soccer Star of the Year finalist Isaac Masame has found a new passion in motor mechanics after he decided to call it a day from the football pitch.

The former Motor Action and Hwange midfielder is now spending his time at a garage along Mashotshandlovu Way near Seke Road in Hatfield.

Masame says he does not see himself coming back to the football pitch as he turns 40 this year after he also tried his hand in coaching.

With a career that spanned over two decades and a single national team cap, the former Premier League title winner with Motor Action in 2010 has find new ways of survival.

“The highlight of my career was winning the Premier League with Motor Action under Joey Antipas. We had a good team and we managed to do well by winning the Premier League.

“I owe everything to the late Eric Rosen who kept us as a family, but with the current situation it is better that I hassle here rather than remaining idle. I have mastered a lot of things in motor mechanics within this short space of time and I am looking forward to continue working hard.”

Masame had a word of advice to young players who are engaging in drug and alcohol abuse as well as playing money games.

“Life needs determination and focus. I started off in Kadoma and if a was not disciplined I would not have played for such long period.

“Footballers must stay aware from drug and alcohol abuse as they will damage their careers. We know we are going through trying times but footballers must continue to train hard as you never know one day things will change yet your career will have gone to waste,” said Masame.
