ZIMBABWEANS must draw lessons from the country’s rich liberation war culture to accelerate the attainment of Vision 2030 which seeks to propel the country to an upper-middle income economy, Zanu PF Central Committee member and Seke MP Cde Munyaradzi Kashambe has said.

He had finished assessing Dema Council Ground where Mashonaland East province will host the independence celebrations.

Cde Kashambe said the decision to host the provincial event in Seke was in line with President Mnangagwa’s stance to decentralise events of such magnitude and present opportunities for communities to thrive.

“The Second Republic has been on a drive for five years now to create accelerating economic growth and ensure that all Zimbabweans can participate in and share the rewards of this growth by instituting people-oriented policies and programmes that resonate with the general citizenry.

“The Zanu PF-led Government was going full steam ahead with the country’s development agenda despite hurdles on its way. Zimbabwe will achieve its development aspirations despite the economic warfare being waged by its former colonisers,” said Cde Kashambe.

The majority of the black people, he said, were alienated from the most fertile soils as they were squashed in mostly sandy and arid regions such as Seke, which left them as mere spectators in the economic activities of the country.

“With the advent of Independence and the Second Republic, there has been a revolutionary transformation of this inequality with many blacks benefiting from deliberate policies put in place to transform the livelihoods of the people with Seke area benefiting from the Government policies,” he said.

Turning to the progress made so far in terms of state of preparedness for the provincial celebrations in his constituency, Cde Kashambe said preparations for this year’s 44th independence celebrations are progressing well in Mashonaland East with at least 10 000 expected to attend.

“Everything is now in place for the grand event to be held at Dema council ground, in Seke constituency.

“At least 15 beasts will be slaughtered to feed the expected number of people. I am happy with the level of preparedness,” he said.

Seke Constituency shares borders with Epworth South, Hunyani, Zengeza West, Zengeza East, Chitungwiza North, Marondera West and Goromonzi South.

This year’s main national independence celebrations will be held in Murambinda Growth Point, Manicaland province.

The celebrations will be held under the theme: “Zim@44: Unity, Peace and Development Towards Vision 2030”.
