BRAYDEN Raynars is expected to defend the annual Mashonaland Junior Squash Under-19 boys’ championship at St Johns College tomorrow.
Raynars won the tournament last year and will be back to defend his title.
The St George’s College student will battle it out with several other players who are expected to take part in the tournament.
The Harare Province have provided three venues with Belgravia Sports Club hosting the Under-11 and Under-14s, while Old Georgians will host the Under-16s and St Johns College will host the Under-19s.
The finals will be held tomorrow at St Johns College.
In the boys Under-16 boys’ category, Brette Raynars – also from St George’s – is expected to defend his title as well.
In the Under-19 girls’ category, Bella Mella from Hellenic College is expected to defend her title while Gail Zirembwa from Peterhouse Girls will be the one to look forward to in the Under-16 girls contest.
Nishto Munyoro, one of the tournament organisers, said they are looking forward to a competitive event that will provide players with an avenue to book a place in the national team.
“We are happy to be hosting the tournament at the three venues namely Old Georgians, Belgravia and St Jonhs’ College.
“We are looking forward to have over 100 players for all the age groups.
“The tournament is very important as it gives player an opportunity to improve their standings and also get into the national team.
“The players are ready for the tournament,” said Munyoro.
