Botswana sent their national Under-14, 16 boys and the Under-19 girls for a three-day tour of Zimbabwe in the Midlands Province to play against the Midlands Under-14 and 15 teams; Mashonaland West Under-14 and 15 teams and the Midwest Rhinos’ Under-14, 15 boys and 19 girls.
The Harare-based sponsor, who specialises in haulage truck spares, engine management systems and key programming, was engaged by Mashonaland tournament organisers, after realising the need to make junior teams hosting international teams more presentable.
“This is the first time the company is getting involved in the sport and it is the beginning of more commitments in the future,” said the company’s marketing manager, Vimbai Madzvamuse, at a handover ceremony at Harare Sports Club.
“Cricket provides an opportunity for youngsters to build character, gives them a positive consistency in whatever they do and we identified Kadoma as a starting point for further involvement in the development of the sport.”
