MASHOKO High School from Bikita are the 2017 National Association of Secondary School Heads (Nash) Under-17 football champions after beating Cheziya High of Gokwe 2-0 in the national final at Gebhuza High in Hwange last Sunday.
The national finals were played over two days and featured 12 schools from the country’s 10 provinces comprising provincial champions, the host school and title holders Pamushana from Bikita.
Mashoko completed the double over Cheziya, having beaten the Gokwe school 3-0 in the group stages. They also thrashed Karoi Enterprise 5-0.
Bulawayo provincial representatives Mpopoma High could only go as far as the quarter-finals where they were knocked out by Churchill High of Harare after a penalty shootout.
Pamushana High, who went into the tournament as favourites, were knocked out by Mashonaland Central hopefuls Mavhuradonha in the quarter-finals in a penalty shootout.
Nash national head-in-charge of football Albert Mucheka said the tournament was a success and pleaded with the corporate world to partner the association by investing in sport.

Quarterfinals: Pamushana 0-0 Mavhuradonha (5-6 penalties); Mashoko 3-0 Chemhondoro; Churchill 1-1 Mpopoma (4-2 penalties); St Augustines 0-1 Cheziya
Semi finals: Mashoko 2-0 Mavhuradonha; Churchill 0-0 Cheziya (3-4 penalties)
Final: Mashoko 2–0 Cheziya.
