The monthly National Clean-Up Day has significantly increased community participation, coordination, and environmental

stewardship in Mashonaland Central.

Speaking at the clean-up campaign in Mt Darwin, Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution Christopher Magomo

stated that in conjunction with the growing recycling sector, the province is laying the groundwork for achieving a clean, safe,

and healthy environment for Zimbabwe.

The monthly National Clean-Up Day coincided with the World Clean-Up Day, observed annually on the third Saturday of

September.

“This global emphasis on cleanliness provides a strong platform to reinforce national clean-up programs and efforts towards a

clean, safe, and healthy environment in Zimbabwe,” he said.

“This international focus will not only increase participation and raise awareness but also highlight Zimbabwe’s commitment to

environmental responsibility.

“It presents a unique opportunity to bring the nation and the world together to address waste management challenges and

build a more sustainable future.”
