The Mashonaland West Investment Conference will officially open this morning with Government officials, including Permanent Secretary for Presidential Affairs in the Office of the President and Cabinet Engineer Tafadzwa Muguti, among the delegates.
Mashonaland West Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister Marian Chombo will set the tone for the two-day conference.
Zimplats’ chief executive, Mr Alex Mhembere, will deliver the keynote address.
Business representatives, local authorities and other stakeholders will take stock of the investment environment in the province and deliberate on ways to improve ease of doing business.
The third edition of the conference will focus on fine-tuning benchmarks in the National Development Strategy 1 (NDS1) and Mashonaland West Provincial Development Plan.
At least 2 000 delegates, including those participating virtually, will take part in the two-day conference, where the improvement of Kariba as a tourist destination that will contribute significantly to the province’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP), is one of the topics to be discussed.
Potential and current investors in mining, agriculture, tourism, transport and the services sector have gathered to formulate strategies to grow the provincial economy.
