Maskiri’s jiti collabo with Tambaoga

Rapper, Maskiri, has ventured into a jiti sound after he collaborated with Tambaoga on a track titled Meju.

Maskiri, who once composed a sungura song on his album Come Back, said being a rapper shouldn’t stop him from trying different sounds.

He says Tambaoga is one of the artists he respects, and their track has been well received.

“Music is a universal language that speaks to different people, as artists, we should seek to also use different genres to speak to many people. This is one of the reasons I did this jiti track. And, the main reason is I respect Tambaoga, he is one of those elders who have been there in the music industry for a long time, since our urban grooves era. I just thought me and him could make a good combination, and I am happy people are loving the song.”

The rapper also released another single titled Mendy, a heartbreak slow jam, featuring DJ Face. The track, Mendy, could be equated to the songs like Handichina Basa Newe, which featured Nox Guni. Mendy has been well received and is one of the trending local rap songs on music platforms. Maskiri says he feels elated to be still in the game since the turn of the millennium. Maskiri is one of the rappers who broke many music and cultural barriers with his art.

He has several albums to his credit which include Muviri Wese Volume 1 &2, Ndotaundi Yacho, Recovery, Blue Movie, Come Back and New Look.
