LUKE”Vahombe”Masomere finally bade farewell to the Shabanie Mine executive yesterday, advising them that he will either be joining Triangle or Buffaloes. “I can confirm that Luke finally bade us farewell yesterday and on behalf of the club and the Shabanie Mine fans we wish him all the best. He is no longer our coach and we are not even surprised about his departure as he had already advised us about his intended move,” said Fidelis Chimedza the Shabanie Mine vice-chairman.
Pervington Zimunya is also on his way out and might be headed to Mutare to join his favourite coach.
Roy Mazingi has set his sights on joining newly promoted Air Force outfit Chapungu with William Ngonya opting for a move out of the mining town to join Bulawayo Chiefs.
Goalkeeper Victor Twaliki, named the best goalkeeper for the 2013 BancABC season has set his sights on joining Caps United but he still has a running contract. Former striker Tarisai Rukanda has already sealed a deal with the FC Platinum which will see him getting US$6 000 a year for the next two years.
Rukanda is managed by a Shabanie Mine committee member and his proposed move has opened a can of worms since other members are not happy to have an executive who manages players and sell them to their fiercest rivals.
Some executive members’ positions have already been dissolved and the club president Greg Mataka will appoint new members soon.
Mataka saw the promotion of Shabanie to the elite league in 2001 and he refused to bow down to pressure from some of the executive committee members who wanted to appoint another coach to replace Masomere at the start of the 2013 season.
During that period the outspoken Masomere was serving a Zifa suspension over the Asiagate scandal but Mataka maintained that he would wait for the association’s ruling before appointing another coach and Arnold Jani was tasked with taking charge on a caretaker basis.
After being pardoned by Zifa, Masomere then guided Shabanie Mine to BancABC Super8 Cup success.
Shabanie Mine public relations officer Dumisani Mahwite, said they were now awaiting the arrival of a new coach before they outline their 2014 programme.
“We are waiting for a coach to be appointed so that he gives us the list of players he wants to work with. I am appealing to our fans to be calm as we are in total control of the situation and there is no reason to panic”
“There is no player exodus at our club as some players have seen their contracts through and they have been offered better deals by other clubs. We are very professional and we are not going to stand in anybody’s way. Masomere indicated to me last week that he had signed for Buffaloes.
“Our club is not going to die and we are going to negotiate with old and new players in the New Year,’’ said Mahwite.
