Masomere is set to join Shabanie Mine.
The resignation of the chain-smoking Masomere comes just days after the team’s first home defeat, a 1-3 loss at the hands ofa super-charged Motor Action at Mucheke last Sunday. The defeat resulted in fans venting their anger on team owner Petros Mutema, who was targeted for expelling 18 senior players who staged a sit-in over outstanding salaries and winning bonuses.
The players were replaced by rookies loaned from ambitious Eastern Region Division One side Don Bosco FC.
“I have left Masvingo United and am now joining Shabanie Mine where I am starting my work today (yesterday).
“I have decided to leave because of a variety of problems centred around my welfare, I was not getting my salary and allowances and my predicament was even worse than that of players.
“So, I have decided to part company with Masvingo United and I am now joining Shabanie Mine,” said Masomere.
He said he had already informed the Masvingo United club executive of his decision to quit Yuna Yuna.
Masvingo United chairman Levison Nzvura yesterday confirmed that Masomere had left Masvingo United.
“Yes it is true that he has left, he told me verbally that he has quit and he is still to write to us but we have no problem if that is what he has decided to do.
“We cannot stand in a coach’s way if he says he wants to leave and at Masvingo United we are grateful for the work that he did and we will continue with our plans to rebuild our team,”said Nzvura.
“The Masvingo United chairman added that his team had experienced people on the technical bench, saying Saul Chaminuka was likely to take over on an interim basis.
“We have an experienced technical bench especially our assistantcoach Saul Chaminuka who I think is well placed to be our team’s acting head coach while we decide on a substantive appointment.
“We haven’t sat down as a club executive to decide on the appointment of a substantive coach,” said Nzvura
Yuna Yuna has been rocked by a series of problems revolving around lack of funds to pay players’ salaries and winning bonuses.
