Johane Masowe Chishanu Graspa, led by Mr Ownell Vengesai (Madzibaba Terbnage), will this Friday conduct a large-scale clean-up at the Trabablas Interchange, a key traffic node recently commissioned by President Emmerson Mnangagwa to ease congestion in Harare.
Speaking to Zimpapers, Mr Vengesai said the initiative reflects the sect’s commitment to complementing the Government infrastructure investments through community-led stewardship.
“By working hand in hand on national efforts, we are not only strengthening essential services, but also affirming the role of faith-based communities in driving sustainable development and uplifting the lives of our people,” said Mr Vengesai.
He emphaisised that the inaugural clean-up campaign is not only a community effort but also a preparatory activity leading up to the Masowe 4ED launch.
“It also serves as a build-up to the forthcoming Masowe 4ED launch on November 29 at our Glen Norah B shrine,” said Mr Vengesai.
President Mnangagwa launched the National Clean-Up Campaign in 2018 and designated the first Friday of every month as the clean-up day when Zimbabweans are encouraged to clean their surroundings, aiming for a cleaner, healthier environment as part of the country’s vision for a middle-income economy by 2030.
In this regard, Mr Vengesai lauded the Government’s substantial investment in infrastructure and said communities should uphold its value through active participation in the national clean-up campaign.
“The Government, under the leadership of our President, has fulfilled its responsibility. It is now our duty as a community to do the same—through consistent clean-up efforts that safeguard the interchange’s beauty and purpose,” he said.
From humble beginnings, Johane Masowe Graspa, has grown into a continental movement with nearly 400 branches across Zimbabwe, Kenya, Botswana, Zambia, Mozambique and Namibia.
