The Office of the Master of the High Court of Zimbabwe has decentralised to the Midlands province, housed in Gweru and will open doors to the public starting next week as the Government continues to bring services to the people.

This was announced in a notice yesterday titled “Establishment of offices: Gweru.”

“In an effort to enhance access to its services, the Office of the Master of the High Court is pleased to announce that it will be establishing an office in the Midlands province, Gweru which will open its doors to the public on June 19, 2023.

“The office is located at 2nd floor First Mutual Centre Cnr 5th Street /R. Mugabe Way,” reads the notice.

Office of the Master of the High Court also highlighted its duties including registration and administration of deceased estate, insolvent estates and companies under corporate rescue.

It said other duties includes that of registration and safe keeping of wills, administration and supervision of funds held in the guardian’s fund.

The cascading of services to the people comes at a time when Gweru City Council recently handed over a one hectare stand to the Judicial Service Commission for a High Court building in the city and a second stand at Mkoba for an extra magistrates court complex.

This will enable a resident judge to be based in the Midlands rather than having judges from Bulawayo or Masvingo visiting every quarter and using the Gweru magistrates’ courts temporarily.

The council also handed over a stand in Mkoba for a second set of magistrates’ courts in the city, allowing residents of the largest high density suburb to have access to these courts without having to travel to the city centre.
