MASVINGO is bracing for the official launch of the National Culture Month by President Mnangagwa in Chiredzi next week with more than 22 000 people expected to grace the event.

The launch will take place at Rusunguko Clinic under Chief Tshovani in Chiredzi on May 22.

This year’s launch will be held under the theme, “Celebrating Indigenous Voices”.

Addressing a press conference this morning, Masvingo Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister Ezra Chadzamira said the province is honoured to host the epochal event that celebrates the country’s rich cultural heritage and diversity.

Minister Chadzamira paid homage to President Mnangagwa for agreeing to grace the celebrations in Chiredzi, which he said speaks to the importance attached to culture and its role in shaping the nation’s identity by the Second Republic.

According to the minister, having the launch in Chiredzi is in sync with the Second Republic’s mantra of “leaving no one and no place behind”.

Chiredzi is currently experiencing an infrastructural boom, with Minister Chadzamira revealing that several business units are sprouting up in the district ahead of the launch.

The event will be marked by exhibitions showcasing the country’s rich and diverse culture that will be displayed through poetry, dance, music, dress and food.

There will also be a musical gala that will be graced by a blend of musicians from the modern and traditional grenes of music.
