MASVINGO City made a strong debut at the Colours of the World Tourism Expo held in Turkey by showcasing Zimbabwe’s rich cultural heritage.
The city’s tourism pitch helped to secure potential business and cultural exchange deals at the highly subscribed event in Istanbul.
Masvingo City’s stand at the expo was not only popular but also reinforced Zimbabwe’s standing in global tourism.
Authorities in the ancient city are satisfied that they raised the country’s flag high at the culture and gastronomy tourism extravaganza.

Known as the Colours of the World International Culture, Tourism, and Destination Expo, the highly-subscribed event created a perfect opportunity for Masvingo City’s delegation to showcase Zimbabwe’s rich culture and traditions.
The Masvingo city delegation at the expo comprised experts in tourism, gastronomy and traditional music, leaving a mark on the global stage.
Masvingo City’s finance director, Mr Danster Jori, who was part of the delegation, said the expo was an eye-opener.
“The experience was quite exciting, we believe we achieved the objectives we set for our participation,” said Mr Jori.
“We wanted to provide exposure to our business people, our chefs and artists to international events so that they find collaborations while also taking our our culture to the world.”
Visitors to Masvingo’s stand were captivated by traditional dance performances by products from the ancient city’s famous Charles Austin Theatre.
Ms Rejoice Gundura, who runs the popular Eland Restaurant in Masvingo City, took her culinary skills to Turkey, where she stood shoulder to shoulder with other doyens in gastronomy.
Ms Gundura’s traditional dishes won her great acclaim and admiration at the expo.
