“We have a development plan that we have put in place, as a province and it is this plan we were reviewing and after every quarter we have meetings of this nature. We are concerned about the funded projects,” said Mr Mazvidza.
“We are happy that we are still embracing the concept of Public Private Partnerships (PPPs) and that is the reason why we keep on having private players assisting us in some projects.”
He said different committees reported on their particular sectors giving the level of progress made.
“We have sector committees that deal with issues such as social services, agriculture, and infrastructural development. We were reviewing the level of action on planned activities and we touched on Tokwe-Mukorsi among other projects on the ground. This is the first quarter and it seems there is progress made,”said Mr Mazvidza.
He said while Government was the main actor in most projects, there were a number of private partners whose contribution to the development of the province was immense.
“We still have non-State actors who are helping us in different developmental projects, for example our giant water projects like Tokwe-Mukorsi, we have an Italian contractor. We are happy there is progress and very soon it would be completed. Private players are there to complement our efforts and not the other way round,” said Mr Mazvidza.
