Godlwayo Mahlabayithwale Communications (GMC), the organisers of the Filabusi Christmas Day gig, are providing a golden opportunity for artistes in the Matabeleland region to share the stage with renowned South African musician, Big Zulu.
The gig, scheduled for tonight at Scooter Joint, will kick off festive celebrations in rural Filabusi. Local artistes who include Kay_Kid Umfanomsotho, Zhezhingtonz, Boss Golide, Maestro, Utsheketsha Ogezayo, Lyquid DJ, and Amalalandawonye have been given the rare opportunity to perform alongside the Imali Eningi hit-maker.
GMC’s media liaison officer, Sifiso Mafifie, expressed the intention to expose local talents to larger audiences and foster connections with an internationally acclaimed artiste like Big Zulu.

“Big Zulu’s brand is recognised not only in South Africa, but in Africa and the world at large, having filled up venues internationally. Bringing him to Zimbabwe, deep in Filabusi, is an opportunity to boost the country’s arts sector,” Mafifie said.
“Including local artistes on the line-up allows them to mingle with him and learn a lot,” stated Mafifie.
According to event organisers, all is set for the event that is not only aimed at providing entertainment, but also at promoting domestic tourism.
“We’re ready to make history in Filabusi by bringing a big artiste to our rural area.
“Scooter Joint, known for its affluent lifestyle, will surely have its standards upped on the day as we want people from outside to experience the good life of a mining town,” added Mafifie. —@mthabisi_mthire
