ZIFA technical director Nelson Matongorere’s suspension has been nullified with his labour case now set to be heard next week on Monday. The hearing was supposed to have been heard this past Monday. Matongorere is being accused of overstepping his authority and insubordination after he was alleged to have voted for the World Player of the Year yet he was not the national team coach or the Warriors captain. He also was fingered in the disappearance of Caf C certificates.
“The Zimbabwe Football Association (Zifa) would like to inform the football fraternity and the nation that the disciplinary hearing for Mr Nelson Matongorere has been deferred to Monday, the 30th of September 2013. This was done in compliance with Statutory Instrument SI 15 of 2006 which stipulates that an employee should be notified 72 hours before the hearing commences. Zifa operates within the principles of natural justice,” said Zifa communications manager Xolisani Gwesela in a statement released yesterday.
He said all disciplinary hearings will be conducted in line with national labour laws and relevant football statutes.
“There are some media houses and controversial online publications peddling malicious falsehoods and outrageous concoctions to the effect that we are flouting labour laws. We would like to abundantly stress that, these accusations are decorated with manipulated truth, hence false,” said Gwesela.
The national football motherbody spokesperson said Zifa will not relent in their efforts to clean and develop football.
