SHEASHAM head coach Prince Matore has acknowledged that while his team is off to a flying start, the Central Region Division One League is shaping up to be a brutal battlefield.
The former Premiership side has kicked off their campaign in ruthless fashion, winning all four of their opening fixtures. They have already banged in 12 goals and conceded just two.
Hot on their heels is Hardrock, who have amassed 10 points from three wins and a draw, and crucially, are yet to concede a single goal.
Gwanda Pirates sit third with nine points, while FC Platinum Under-19 complete the top four on seven points.
Matore admits the competition is as tough as it gets.
“The level of competition in the Central Region is incredibly high. Each team brings a strong game, and no match is easy. The intensity and quality of play demand consistent focus, preparation and execution from everyone involved.
“While we may be leading, we are fully aware that the margin for error is extremely narrow. The teams around us are talented and driven, and every point, goal, or win counts.
There’s no room for complacency and that reality pushes us to keep improving every single day,” said Matore.
“That said, we are proud to have started the campaign on a positive note. Our early performances reflect the hard work put in by the entire team, from the players and coaching staff to the support systems behind the scenes. It’s been a strong foundation to build upon.
“We understand that maintaining momentum will be key as the season progresses. Our focus remains on taking each challenge as it comes, staying grounded, and continuing to perform at our highest level. The journey is long, but our determination is unwavering.
“We know this is just the beginning. The season is long, and maintaining consistency will be crucial.
“We’re taking it one game at a time, staying grounded, and putting in the work to stay competitive in every match. The level of competition in the Central Region is incredibly high.
“Every team is well prepared, and no fixture is easy. That intensity pushes us to keep improving, to stay sharp, and to never take anything for granted,” said Matore.
Sheasham FC appointed Matore as head coach at the start of the season in a surprise move.
He had guided Kwekwe United to top-flight promotion the previous season but left them ahead of their Premiership debut. At Sheasham, he is assisted by Luke Petros.
